About Me

Qualifications, Skills and Background

Specialist in Advanced Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy & Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming

I am qualified with a degree in medicine and have over twenty years of experience, working with patients in both the NHS and the private sector. I bring to therapy a warm and compassionate attitude, along with the skills, tools and techniques necessary to teach you how to improve your life.

I am skilled in a variety of approaches. I have had a great deal of experience helping patients through the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Hypno CBT, Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming. I can facilitate the use of Acceptance based and Change based therapies leading to desired positive outcomes. I am also skilled in coaching patients with Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, the process of Forgiveness/ Letting Go, Meditation, Relaxation Techniques and many other approaches which lead to inner peace and harmony in life. I also continue to keep up to date with well-established and cutting edge therapeutic practices, in order to enrich my work. Therefore, when you enrol with me, you will be offered therapy that is uniquely appropriate to your individual situation.

Whilst working as a Psychiatrist I have learnt to understand the different types of psychological illness and have developed effective methods of treatment on a case by case basis. Practicing within hospitals in many towns and cities throughout the UK, I am familiar with working with patients from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. I have treated children, adults and the elderly.

I believe that we all have our own unique story to tell; a patient’s illness is unique to him/ her. Although we tend to classify mental illnesses under headings such as Anxiety, Depression, Psychosis, Personality Disorders, etc., not everyone can associate with these labels. Each person has a unique set of circumstances which bring about their individual symptoms. Therefore, each individual needs therapeutic input that is specifically tailored to their needs. I see each patient as an individual and offer warmth, compassion and empathy during therapy. I endeavour to understand how they became ill in order to conquer the causes of their illness rather than focusing on symptoms alone. This approach helps me to connect with and understand my patients better; it fosters good rapport and communication leading to effective treatment. To me, you will always be your own expert. I am simply the expert in how to help you get to where you want to be in life. I will not dictate to you what you should do; instead, I will guide you to better understand your own thoughts and perceptions in order for you to continue your life in the way that you want to.

As I progressed in my career as a psychiatrist, I realised that a large percentage of my patients would benefit from psychotherapeutic work. I wanted to learn other complimentary methods of treating psychological problems and was fascinated by the range of techniques that proved to bring positive effects to patients.

I coach simple, practical and effective ways of changing negative thought by facilitating positive thought. This will aid your health and happiness, and ultimately, your prospects in life.

Many people suffer with feelings of hurt and anguish. Before we can let go of these emotions, we need to release anger and hurtful feelings safely. I relay practical methods of such release and forgiveness. Helping you to let go of your traumatic experiences will prove highly effective in bringing about healing and achieving a state of peacefulness.

I will see you in the capacity of a therapist and not as a doctor. I will offer you talking therapy and will not prescribe you medication. If you need medical help, I would advise you to see your GP who can explore other options.
